You can use the Google Adwords keyword tool to discover niches.  Just use the keyword suggestion tool and you will be amazed at what you can find.  You get to know which keywords are cheap and expensive there too.  You can also use AdWords to drive traffic to your site.  Then once you have a theme, look for other sites and directories to link to yours.

The other main type of online business is an eBay store.  This is still a very solid opportunity for you if you have something to sell or if you want to develop something.  Many real world businesses make millions a year on eBay.  The key is finding a wholesaler to buy products from or to develop you own for less per unit than it can be sold for on ebay.

It’s an even better business if you can find a drop shipper wholesale vendor.  These companies will ship the product to a customer once you make a sale.  Using this arrangement you are free to focus on marketing the products.

These are two proven methods for making money online for which there are still many real opportunities.  Remember to keep costs low and test market for profitable niches!
