I really wanted to put a video up on YouTube using some of my own music in the background. My goal was to create an original music video using stock footage and maybe some pictures of me and my band. On a whim I Googled “create video online”. I was amazed at what I found: a web-based way to produce, mix, edit and share a video using a vast library of copyright-free material. Wow. There are dozens of websites that let you share and watch videos, like those listed on this site. But none of them have tools to actually create something and there is a nice little chart to show you what I mean.

After a little digging into what seemed like an impossible task, I had uncovered Eyespot.com. I won’t go into the details of using the site because you can find that at solutionwatch.com. What I can tell you is that it has a huge gallery of amateur videos and photos uploaded by users. By uploading to Eyespot.com they have agreed to let others mix, edit and download their clips for free. You may ask what anyone has to gain from a site like this. As this article explains, it’s all about entertaining people to capture market share and sell advertising.

Anyway, after many hours of stringing together the videos and photos provided by people I will never meet, I came up with this video for my song “The Time Isn’t Right”. When I finally sat back and watched it I could just not believe the power of the Internet…
