I’ve tried advertising danogo.com using adwords but never found it to pay off. You can get as much traffic by pinging the Google blog search engine for free then through using search engine pay per click advertising. Plus, if you are making money through adsense then it’s just not worth it to spend anything on getting traffic. However, I work as a Webmaster for a major corporation and I do adwords management for them. A lead can be worth up to 1 million per sale for them, so Adwords is an incredible value in that case.
In my opinion, any effort and money you would spend on ppc ads is way better spent on search engine optimization. However, at the large company I work for trying to get an SEO investment and resources is much more difficult than getting them to sign off on a small adwords budget. These are really different approaches to web marketing that are determined by the potential pay off per visitor and the budget of the business.
I think the lure of Adwords is to make money fast without building back links. If you have the right product and an existing business I think it’s an amazing online marketing tool. However, if you’re trying to do the fast cash thing with an affiliate product or adsense, then its just not the right kind of web marketing to invest in. You should just do high volume, keyword rich blogging if you’re in an internet only business.
