Danogo.com, a Web 2.0 startup company is built completely using PHP open source content management systems. Check out some of the tools I used to build the website without much programming and development time. There are so many free open source CMS systems available that the biggest problem is choosing the best. Here is a list of the Web 2.0 applications and technologies that Danogo.com used for website development:
Main blog – Wordpress
Social Network – Ning
Social Bookmarks – Pligg
Games - Arcadem Arcade Script
Ask & Answer – phpMyFAQ
Topsites - Aardvark
Classifieds – Noah’s classifieds
Danogopedia – Twiki
Forum – Simple Machines
Chat Room - phpFreeChat
Job Board – jobomatic
Store – Amazon a store
Best overall CMS is Joomla which I have used for client projects. In fact, if I had known about it when I started Danogo I would have used it as the main framework instead of Wordpress. However, I started the business as a blog only. But when I started blogging about Web 2.0 technology I wanted to actually try it out and that’s how this site keeps growing and growing!
It does help that I am a Webmaster with extensive experience in application development and Web design. I do need to do quite a bit of customization of the software, HTML and graphics. However for the most part using content management systems allows me to focus on marketing and building a Web 2.0 community.
I invite you to try out all the sections of Danogo.com, accessible on the right navigation of this blog, to get a feel of the various CMS applications. Feel free to contact me on the social network, forum or email contact page if you have any questions or need advice.
Take care and good luck with your Web 2.0 website!
Dan-O
Webmaster, Danogo.com
